LAN Network Installation, Monitoring & Management

Who installs and manages enterprise LAN networks across Ireland and the UK?

VEI Global is a certified HPE Aruba Networking partner designing, installing and managing enterprise LAN networks across Ireland, the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. From our headquarters in Clane, Co. Kildare and our office in Manchester, we deliver client-server and peer-to-peer LAN deployments for retail chains, healthcare groups, government agencies, manufacturing sites and universities. We take end to end ownership: discovery, design, switching procurement, installation, configuration, and 24×7 ongoing monitoring under one engineering team.

What makes VEI different from other LAN installers?

Plenty of providers can supply and rack switches. What sets VEI apart is what happens after the hardware is in. We run the network, we do not just install it. Our own engineers are certified across the HPE Aruba management and security stack, and that managed capability is the difference between a LAN that works on day one and a LAN that keeps working, securely, for years.

Three skills carry that difference:

  • Aruba Central. We design, configure and operate cloud managed networking across the whole estate from a single console: provisioning, configuration control, firmware lifecycle and health analytics, with access scoped to your own IT team where you want it.
  • AirWave. For estates that run on premises or a mix of both, we use AirWave for deep monitoring and assurance: live visibility of every switch, port and uplink, historical trending, and proactive alerting on faults before they reach your users.
  • ClearPass network access control. This is the capability most installers leave out. We build and run ClearPass policy so every device, whether employee, contractor, guest or IoT endpoint, is identified, authenticated and segmented at the switch port. It is the control that keeps a network across many sites secure, compliant and auditable.

The outcome is a LAN that is installed to standard and then actively managed, monitored and access controlled by the same accountable team, under one contract.

Which switching vendors and connectivity options does VEI work with?

Our primary networking partner is HPE Aruba Networking. We design, deploy and manage Aruba’s enterprise switching stack including the Aruba CX series (campus and aggregation), Aruba Central cloud-managed networking, and Aruba ClearPass for policy and network access control. We support Cisco switching for customers extending an existing Cisco estate before refresh, and Arista for data-centre class deployments where line-rate performance and EOS programmability matter.

For wide-area and last-mile connectivity, VEI sources and provisions:

  • xDSL for branch sites where fibre is not economic
  • Fibre as the primary route for HQ and high-throughput sites
  • 4G and 5G for backup, branch, and rapid-deployment scenarios
  • Cable as the alternative metro route
  • SIP Trunk for voice and unified-communications integration

We source these direct from carrier partners across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe so the customer gets one contract and one accountable engineering team across the full network stack.

What does a VEI LAN deployment include?

Every LAN engagement runs through six standard phases:

  1. Discovery and audit. Existing network mapped across switches, cabling, VLANs, routing, IDF and MDF locations, and current pain points. Output is a written current-state report and a target-state design brief.
  2. Design and BOM. Switch sizing, port-count plan, PoE budget, VLAN segmentation, redundancy and failover design, controller and management plane choice (Aruba Central cloud, Cisco DNA, or on premise). Bill of materials sourced through our Aruba and Cisco partner channels.
  3. Cabling and physical installation. Cat6a or fibre runs where required, IDF and MDF rack builds, structured cabling test certificates. Performed by our own engineering team or by certified subcontractors under our direct supervision.
  4. Switch configuration and rollout. Switches staged, configured against the target-state design, and rolled out site by site with minimal-disruption cutover windows agreed in advance.
  5. Network access control and security. ClearPass, Cisco ISE, or 802.1X policy set up against your identity provider. Guest, employee, contractor and IoT segmentation enforced at the switch port.
  6. 24×7 monitoring and ongoing management. Aruba Central, AirWave, or your preferred NMS hooked into our NOC for proactive alerting, change management, and SLA-bound incident response.

The same workflow runs on single-site offices, multi-site retail estates, healthcare facilities, university campuses and warehouse or production environments.

How does VEI handle multi-site LAN rollouts and ongoing management?

Multi-site LAN rollouts have three failure modes and we run them all from one engineering team to neutralise each one.

Site by site phasing. We sequence rollouts so the next site goes live only after the previous one is stable. Each cutover window is agreed with the site manager, runs outside business hours where required, and rolls back inside fifteen minutes if anything goes wrong.

Standardised builds. Every site gets the same switch template, VLAN scheme, naming convention and policy set. Day-2 operations, fault diagnosis and engineer hand-offs work the same way at every location. We document the build standard and hand it over at the end of the engagement.

Single pane of glass monitoring. Aruba Central or AirWave gives one dashboard across the whole estate. Our NOC monitors it 24×7 with proactive alerting on link state, error counters, PoE budgets and configuration drift. Tickets flow into the customer’s chosen ITSM platform or to a dedicated VEI inbox.

Who has VEI delivered LAN networks for?

Named deployments include:

  • Technological University of the Shannon (TUS, the merged successor to Athlone Institute of Technology): campus-wide LAN underlying the Wi-Fi and teaching network estate across multiple buildings.
  • Smyths Toys: multi-site LAN across the retailer’s Ireland, UK and France store estate, including switch standardisation, structured-cabling certification, and ClearPass policy rollout.
  • Grafton Group (Chadwicks, Woodie’s, MacBlair): LAN deployment and ongoing management across the group’s builders merchanting and DIY sites.
  • McGrath Group: multi-site LAN deployment and ongoing management across the Group’s office and operational sites.
  • A multi-site European agency (Brussels region): multi-building enterprise switching as the underlying layer to its Wi-Fi deployment.

VEI’s installed base now stands at 20,000+ wireless access points and thousands of switch ports under active management across a multi-site LAN estate spanning Ireland, the United Kingdom and mainland Europe, with customer operations supported in over 100 countries from our Clane HQ and Manchester office.
